I’ve decided to make some changes for my topic in independent study.
Since rigging and animating Captain Amelia will cause me a technical problem concerning her long jacket, I decide to help Art do his thesis instead. It is still related to 3D rigging and animating and I have already done some parts for his project. So, I think it’s a good idea to join the two projects into one because I can help Art do his thesis which seems to have a lot of work to do and I can practice 3D animation in the process that I’m interested in at the same time.
His project is called “Rebirth of Jimmy”. It’s about a person name Jimmy who rebirths in different forms in each life. It’s idea is about being satisfied with what you are and what you already have in present. It’s a short animated series in Western style. Art will do a chapter of this series for his final project.
He assigned me to do blendshapes for his characters including Jimmy (the main character), Bob, Fred, and Moes. (Blendshape is making different facial expressions for character by moving each vertex of the model and sculpting them into the desired look.) After that, I have to apply all the blendshapes to the already-rigged characters.I have done all of them and these are the results of what I’ve done for the first 3 weeks and a half.
****Please note that all of the stories, character designs, models, and textures belong to ‘Art’ Charmnanvudh Vancharoen. My only work here now is blendshapes for the characters.*****

Also, I’ll have to apply blendshapes done by Best to Dandy brothers, another 3-head character in this series.
Another good thing about this project is that I’ll get to try lip-sync for 3D animation which I haven’t done it before.
The next assignment from art is editing the graph in Maya for shot 1 and 2 to smooth the animation which Art has already done in his blocking process. In shot 2, I also need to animate the whole movement for Bob, the bee character when he flies toward the door and hit it. Art wants to add the sense of weight and overlapping in motion to make his work look as polished as possible.
I’ll try my best to do this and I’ll show you the process of my work in the next post!
